Renowned PTV, Radio Pakistan Newscaster Taskeen Zafar Laid to Rest

RAWALPINDI: Renowned Radio Pakistan and PTV newscaster Taskeen Zafar, who passed away at the age of 67, was laid to rest in Rawalpindi on Sunday. She passed after a brief illness today.

Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture Attaullah Tarar in a statement expressed his sorrow and deep grief over the demise of Taskeen Zafar.

The minister in a condolence message said he was deeply saddened to hear the news of the death of Zafar.

He said the legendary newscaster was extremely talented and experienced and her death was a great loss for not only Radio Pakistan but also to the media industry.

The minister prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this huge loss.

Taskeen Zafar’s career in broadcasting spanned over four decades. She was born in Rawalpindi in 1957. She joined Radio Pakistan as an announcer in 1980 later she also hosted programmes at Radio Pakistan’s News and Current Affairs Channel.

She joined Pakistan Television as a news anchor and also hosted music programmes.

Taskeen Zafar was presented Presidential Pride of Performance award in 2023 in recognition of her meritorious services.
