Repatriation Process Continues as 2501,008 Afghans Return to Homeland

ISLAMABAD: In the context of the November 1st deadline, the number of Afghan nationals returning to their country has witnessed a significant increase, and during the recent phase, at least 251,008 Afghans have so far been repatriated to their homeland, Radio Pakistan reported here Saturday.

Meanwhile, international organizations working on migration estimated that more than 350 hundred thousand Afghans have left Pakistan for their homeland during the last 2 months.  

According to official data, over 1,400 illegal Afghan nationals, boarding 135 vehicles, returned to their country on Friday (yesterday).

Deadline for Repatriation of Afghan Nationals

Earlier, the government of Pakistan set November 1st as the final deadline for all those illegal foreign nationals, including Afghans, to their homeland. After the deadline, thousands of Afghans are returning to their homeland on a daily basis through Chaman and Torkham borders, thanking Pakistan for its generosity. 

According to IOM (International Organization for Migration), the number of Afghans crossing borders has increased from 200 (Normal days) to 1700 (after November 1st) per day.

According to Radio Pakistan, the government of Pakistan, apart from other measures, has established transit camps equipped with all facilities in various districts for their temporary accommodation.
