Rescuers Extinguish Blaze at Government Girls High School in Ghazi

GHAZI: A blaze erupted at Government Girls High School in Serikot, Tehsil Ghazi, on Monday, its causes yet to be determined. The flames swiftly consumed the school structure, requiring a three-hour effort to extinguish.
TMG Ghazi, Rescue 1122, and Tarbela Dam Fire Brigade vehicles participated in the rescue operation. The inferno ravaged the school’s records and furniture, and the building was left in ruins. Fortunately, all 600 students and staff were evacuated unharmed.
The fire erupted at 8:40 am, with the school bustling with students and faculty. Promptly upon notification, local residents, along with figures like Muslim League (N) District President Sahibzada Hamed Shah and SHO Ghazi Cadet Amer, spearheaded the rescue efforts.
Various agencies were contacted, and fire brigade units swiftly responded. Initial rescues were conducted by locals, ensuring no casualties. Despite their efforts, the school sustained severe damage, rendering it uninhabitable for educational purposes.
After a challenging three-hour battle, the fire was subdued with the aid of four fire brigade vehicles. High-ranking officials such as DC Haripur Khan Muhammad, Assistant Commissioner Ghazi Fozia Mohsin, and District Education Officer Women Haripur Shagufta Jabin arrived to oversee operations.
