LAHORE: Former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Shahid Afridi, has hinted to reveal the inside story of the current T20 World Cup squad to the public soon.
In an interview with a local TV channel, Afridi said that he knows many things about the current environment in the dressing room, but can’t discuss it openly. He was responding to a question about the lack of unity in the national team.
Young pacer Mohammad Wasim, who was also on the guest panel and part of the quad recently, also knows many things, but they were unable to discuss them openly.
He emphasized the role of the captain in fostering team cohesion and unity, stating that it is the captain’s responsibility to create a positive atmosphere within the team. Afridi highlighted the captain’s authority, supported by the selection committee, in guiding the team’s performance on the field.
Regarding his relationship with Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is his son-in-law, Afridi clarified that he maintains a distinct perspective despite their personal connection. He said that he would not hesitate to criticize his own family members if necessary.
Afridi also criticized the selection committee for making significant errors in recent years and expressed his intention to speak openly about these issues after the conclusion of the World Cup.
