CHICAGO: The International Center of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) will file petitions with the International Criminal Court (ICC) seeking war crimes indictments against Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his several Ministers, Western media reported on Thursday.

The group’s Legal Working Group for Canadian Accountability stated the prosecutions would focus on the role of political leaders in “assisting and abetting Israel’s perpetration of war crimes” in Gaza.

The group, which describes itself as an independent forum of academics, politicians and lawyers that work to promote and support Palestinian rights, alleged the Canadian Ministers of being “complicit in war crimes.”

The ICJP said that despite the increasing civilian death toll in the Gaza Strip and “clear evidence of war crimes and crimes against humanity, and despite global outrage from the UN and human rights experts worldwide, Canada has continued to promise its steadfast backing for Israel.

The group said it “calls on the Canadian Government to end its involvement in war crimes by calling for a truce, stopping all arms-exports permits to Israel, indicting those recruiting Canadian volunteers for Israel’s military, and stopping Canadian charities from using donations to support Israel’s military.”

Since Hamas’s surprise attack on October 7, Israel’s army has destroyed thousands of buildings in Gaza, killed over 11,500 Palestinians, including over 4,500 children, and injured tens of thousands of people, Gazan Health Ministry said. Gaza’s health ministry told the media that 40 patients, including 3 babies, have passed away since Al- Shifa’s emergency generator ran out of fuel Saturday.

The UN’s World Food Program (WFP) warned on Thursday that almost the entire population of the Gaza Strip risks “sliding into hunger hell” unless fuel deliveries are permitted to restore and there is a quick increase in food provisions.
