River Swept Away Vehicle with Six Tourists Onboard in Gilgit

GILGIT: A tourist’s vehicle has been swept away with all six tourists by the river while taking a turn at the Sasi Haramush area in Gilgit on Monday. The vehicle was coming from Skardu to Gilgit when it met the tragic incident.

Recent rain and floods hit most of the northern parts of the country including Chitral and Gilgit Baltistan with massive human losses and property damages.

Search Operation Underway for Tourists

As reported by Rescue 1122 Gilgit Baltistan, smart mobile phones, gas cylinders, two torches, and four pieces of sleepers have been recovered from the spot. Later during the search operation, a dead body was recovered near Ansar camp, while another dead body was found Thalchi area of Gilgit. Till the filing of the report, a search operation was continued along with the process of identifying the names of the victims.

The tourists who became victims of the incident belonged to Rajanpour South Punjab and their names included Abdul Ghaffar, Muhammad Azad, Haq Nawaz, Muhammad Taimur, Sanaullah and Muhammad Talha.
