Riyadh Hosts Joy Awards 2024, Honors Anthony Hopkins, Eva Longoria

RIYADH: Legendary Hollywood actor Anthony Hopkins was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, while Eva Longoria, received Personality of the Year Award at a star-studded Joy Awards 2024 ceremony held in Riyadh, Arab media reported on Sunday.

The event brought together stars from the Arab world and beyond, to celebrate achievements in entertainment and the arts.

The awards, now in their fourth year, are part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 Quality of Life Program, aiming to make Saudi Arabia as a premier cultural and touristic hub.

Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), Turki Al Sheikh, expressed his delight at the convergence of global artists in Riyadh.

He stressed the Kingdom’s commitment to appreciating and honoring artists in a unique way.

Other notable honorees included Saudi Arabian singer Rabeh Sager and actor Ali Al-Mdfa, receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards.

While Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab, Syrian actress Mona Wassef, and American actors Kevin Costner and Martin Lawrence were also given awards.

Kevin Costner, in his acceptance speech, lauded Saudi Arabia’s emerging role in the international film industry and encouraged local storytelling, stressing the importance of nurturing homegrown talents.

Egyptian singer Shireen Abdul Wahab and American singer Bebe Rexha also enthralled the audience by their memorable performances.
