DUBAI: Pakistan’s white-ball team captain, Babar Azam, has experienced a significant drop in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings.
According to the latest rankings, Azam has fallen six places and is now positioned 9th among Test batters, following a series of underwhelming performances in red-ball cricket.
In contrast, centurions from the Rawalpindi Test, Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel, have seen progress in the rankings. Rizwan is now ranked 10th, while Shakeel holds the 13th position.

Babar Azam’s recent struggles include failing to score a century since the Boxing Day Test in Karachi in 2022 and not achieving a half-century in matches against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. His difficulties were highlighted during the first Test against Bangladesh, where he scored a duck in his first innings, getting out for a two-ball duck to a delivery from Shoriful Islam.
This low score also marked an unwanted record for Azam, as it was his first duck on home soil.
