ISLAMABAD: Pakistani authorities said on Monday that at least ten people were killed and seven were wounded when a passenger bus headed towards the south Asian country’s capital overturned and crashed in the eastern city of Fateh Jang.
In a statement, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) said that the mishap occurred on the motorway when a passenger bus from Bahawalpur city headed toward Islamabad overturned.
“Ten people have been killed and seven wounded as the bus met with an accident near Fateh Jang city,” the NHMP stated, saying that senior officials of the motorways police rushed to the site of the accident immediately after hearing about the mishap. It that all bodies and the wounded have been shifted to DHQ Fateh Jang hospital.
According to local media reports, last month, an “over-speeding” bus carrying wedding guests plunged off a bridge into the Indus River, killing around 14 people in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Before that, six people were killed and 20 others were injured in Balochistan’s Sherani after a bus plunged into a ditch in the Danasar area in September.
