Islamabad: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab team sent to arrest the Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah returned emptyhanded from the Secretariat Police Station on Monday, October 10, 2022, as they weren’t allowed to comply with court orders.
Syed Anwar Ali Shah, the director of ACE Punjab, claimed during a media interview that the police officials mistreated them and forced them out of the police station.
An earlier arrest warrant was issued for Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Monday by a judicial magistrate, who also directed the police to detain the minister right away in connection with a land fraud case and present him to the court. The hearing was presided over by Rawalpindi’s special judicial magistrate Ghulam Akbar, who had also last week granted ACE’s plea for the issuance of a non-bailable arrest warrant for Sanaullah.
The Punjab anti-corruption organization asked the court to appoint Sanaullah as a proclaimed criminal at today’s hearing. The judge, however, rejected the plea and demanded that they make an arrest and present him.
