ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Punjab province and a Chinese AI tech firm have signed an agreement to boost environment-friendly agriculture and solid waste management in the country’s largest province.

The agreement comes weeks after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited China.

A statement issued by the provincial government said for the first time in the province’s history, e-mechanisation of environment-friendly agriculture and solid waste management has started.

MoU signed

An MoU signing ceremony for modern AI-based machinery for solid waste by Beijing AI Force Tech was held in the presence of the provincial chief minister.

The MoU was signed by AI Force Tech CEO Dr Han Wei and Daewoo Pakistan’s Muhammad Khalid.

The chief minister met a delegation led by the Beijing AI Force Tech and chairman.

e-agriculture mechanisation

In the meeting, it was agreed to set up an assembling and manufacturing plant for e-agriculture mechanisation in Punjab.

China’s AI Force Tech company will set up a plant to manufacture robotic agricultural equipment in the province.

The meeting reviewed the use of transportation and harvesting robots for the agriculture sector.

Modern automated AI technology will be promoted in the solid waste management sector in Punjab, the statement stated.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based automated machinery will be used.

e-mechanised model farm

Beijing AI Force Tech will develop an e-mechanised model farm on the outskirts of Lahore – Punjab’s provincial capital.

The 17-acre farm will use electric tractors, harvesters, land levellers and other machinery.

AI Force Tech will install a solar energy system for charging purposes. The company will also introduce driverless electric tractors in Punjab.

The Chinese company will also set up charging stations for e-tractors and other electric machinery.

AI Force Tech will provide e-tractors and other agricultural machinery to the Lahore Waste Management Company.
