MOSCOW, Russia: Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced on Wednesday that Moscow is working on a significant treaty with Iran. Her statement referred to a comprehensive bilateral cooperation agreement currently being negotiated between Tehran and Moscow.
This comes after the Russian Foreign Ministry had stated in January that a new interstate treaty reflecting the “unprecedented upswing” in relations between Iran and Russia was almost finalized. The prospective agreement aims to formalize and enhance the growing cooperation between the two countries, encompassing various strategic, economic, and political aspects.
Zakharova’s comments highlight the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between Russia and Iran, building on their mutual interests and shared geopolitical objectives. Both nations have been seeking to deepen their partnership amidst shifting global dynamics and increased Western sanctions. The anticipated treaty is expected to solidify their alliance, providing a framework for collaboration on issues such as regional security, energy, and trade.
As the negotiations progress, the treaty is poised to mark a significant milestone in Russia-Iran relations, signaling a new phase of intensified bilateral cooperation.
