Russia, China Ties Key to ‘Stabilize International Situation’: Putin

ISLAMABAD: During a meeting with China’s top diplomat on Wednesday, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said that cooperation between Beijing and Moscow was important to “stabilize the international situation”.

The linkages between China and Russia on the global stage are very important to “stabilize the international situation”, Putin stated during discussions with Wang Yi.

Their meeting comes in the midst of China’s bid to appear as a mediator and is believed to reveal its version of a “political solution” to the Ukraine war this week.

Beijing has been trying to position itself as a neutral party while maintaining a close relationship with its ally Russia.

However, Washington and NATO have stated they are worried China may be making preparations to send ammunition and arms to aid Russia pursue its campaign in Ukraine.

In turn, Wang Yi told Putin that with the Russian side, “we are ready to strengthen our strategic partnership and our in-depth cooperation”.

Wang Yi stresses China, Russia ties not against third country

China’s top diplomat maintained that the partnership between the two countries was “not directed against any third country and does not give in to pressure.”

Earlier Wang Yi held discussions with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.

Lavrov stated that despite high turbulence on the global stage, both Russia and China, are demonstrating solidarity and readiness to salvage each other’s interests based on the respect for global law and the focal role of the United Nations.

Russia is the last stop in Wang Yi’s European trip during which he met with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
