MOSCOW: Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced on Tuesday that the Russian army has successfully accomplished the primary objective of the special military operation in Ukraine for the year 2023.

Speaking during a virtual meeting of the Ministry of Defense leadership cadres, Shoigu emphasized the factors contributing to this achievement, citing the establishment of effective defensive lines, high combat readiness across units, the reliability of military equipment, and decisive actions by homeland defenders.

Russian People’s Support in Ukraine Military Operation

Shoigu highlighted the role of the Russian people’s unprecedented support, which played a crucial role in enabling the armed forces to seize the initiative along the combat line of contact with the enemy.

The defense minister acknowledged the skillful and decisive actions of the Russian military, leading to the thwarting of the counter-offensive by the Kiev regime. Shoigu’s remarks come as part of ongoing updates on the progress of the special military operation in Ukraine, where Russian forces have faced and repelled significant challenges.

Shoigu revealed that Ukrainian forces suffered substantial losses, with over 125,000 soldiers and 16,000 pieces of military equipment lost during a six-month counterattack.
