KYIV: Kyiv claimed on Wednesday that Russian forces attacked Ukraine with twenty drones and three missiles overnight and that air defence systems downed over a dozen of the drones. Ukraine has appealed to Western allies for support to bolster its defences against Russian forces.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the assault was carried out with the help of 20 drones and three ballistic missiles. As per media reports, although the air defence systems managed to down the drones but there was no mention of the missiles in the official statement. Officials provided limited details regarding the extent of damage caused by the attack.
In the eastern Kharkiv region, bordering Russia, authorities reported damage to a supermarket and residential homes as a result of the assault. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that it was a priority for Kyiv to regain control of its airspace in the current year to make progress on the front.
