ISLAMABAD/MOSCOW: Russia has produced the first nuclear warheads for Poseidon super torpedoes, which will be deployed on the Belgorod nuclear submarine, Russian News Agency TASS reported Monday citing an unidentified defence source.

“The 1st Poseidon ammunition had been loads manufactured, and the Belgorod submarine could receive them in the near future,” TASS quoted the source.
According to Reuters, Russian President Vladimir Putin first announced about it what would become known as Poseidon in 2018. It has a fundamentally new type of strategic nuclear weapon with its nuclear power source.
In the 2018 speech, Vladimir said that the torpedo range could be unlimited, and it operates at extreme depths at speed several times that of any submarine and other torpedoes.
Putin said that they are low noise, high maneuverability, and practically indestructible for the enemy. There has no weapon that can counter them in the world today.
