Russia, Qatar Discuss Bilateral Ties, Global Issues

MOSCOW:  Russia and Qatar have discussed bilateral ties, global issues, and matters of mutual interest during a meeting in Moscow, Arab media reported on Thursday. Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow. They discussed major matters, including the Ukraine conflict, Iran’s nuclear case, and issues of Palestine, Yemen and Syria.

Russia-Qatar ties

According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar’s Prime Minister reiterated his country’s stance in support of all global efforts to find a peaceful solution to the Ukraine crisis via dialogue and diplomatic means and stop further escalation.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani also stressed the significance of respecting Kyiv’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its globally recognized borders, highlighting in this context the requirement of following the UN Charter and international law, including the obligations as per the charter, to settle global disputes by peaceful ways, refrain from the use of force, and abide by the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of nations.
