MOSCOW: Russia’s foreign ministry stated on Wednesday that Hezbollah remains organized and has not lost its chain of command, despite ongoing Israeli strikes which Moscow said was trying to provoke an armed conflict across the Middle East.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, “According to our assessments, Hezbollah, including the military wing, has not lost its chain of command and is demonstrating organization.”
Zakharova accused Western nations, particularly the United States and Britain, of exacerbating the situation by supporting Israel, which she claimed is responsible for significant civilian casualties in Lebanon. “The hypocrisy of their support for Israel amidst these civilian losses is apparent,” she stated.
Zakharova criticized Israel for a recent missile strike on Syria, which she claimed violated Syrian sovereignty. “Once again, Israel has grossly violated the sovereignty of Syria by launching a missile attack on a multi-story apartment building in a densely populated area of Damascus,” she remarked.
Zakharova expressed outrage at Israel’s routine attacks on Syria, Lebanon, and the Gaza Strip. She said that these actions reflect Israel’s “desire to further expand the geography of armed escalation in the region.”
