Russia Welcomes China-brokered Unity Deal Between Palestinian Factions

MOSCOW: Russia on Wednesday welcomed the Beijing Declaration by Palestinian factions to unite and form an interim unity government.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, in her briefing, expressed Moscow’s support for the signing of the Beijing Declaration by Palestinian factions.

The declaration, aimed at restoring intra-Palestinian unity, was welcomed by Zakharova, who highlighted its significance in overcoming internal divisions among Palestinians.

“We welcome the agreements reached at the meeting hosted by our Chinese allies in Beijing on July 23, where members of 14 Palestinian factions signed the Beijing Declaration,” Zakharova stated.

She emphasized Russia’s expectation that these agreements would be honored, underscoring the importance of Palestinian unity and the integrity of territories within the 1967 borders.

Zakharova stressed that such unity is essential for laying the groundwork for future peace negotiations between Palestine and Israel.

Furthermore, Zakharova reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in these efforts, promising continued assistance in close collaboration with Chinese partners in the region.
