MOSCOW: On the second anniversary of the Ukraine conflict, the female relatives of Russian soldiers deployed in the region are breaking their silence and actively calling for the return of their loved ones.

Despite facing potential backlash and the Kremlin’s efforts to maintain a unified front, these families are using pickets and heartfelt appeals on social media to amplify their voices.

While state media tends to overlook their activism, it remains a delicate matter for the Kremlin, particularly as they strive to present an image of national unity in support of President Vladimir Putin, especially with his impending re-election in the March polls.
