MOSCOW: Russia said on Sunday that Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will meet Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran on Monday, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The meeting comes in the wake of Moscow’s condemnation of what it termed the “political murder” of Nasrallah, who was killed by Israeli airstrikes in Beirut.
In a statement released by the Russian government, it was announced that Mishustin will hold talks with Pezeshkian and First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref. The agenda will cover a broad range of topics, focusing on enhancing cooperation in trade, economics, culture, and humanitarian efforts.
“It is planned to discuss the full range of Russian-Iranian cooperation in the trade and economic and cultural and humanitarian spheres,” Russia said.

Key areas of discussion are expected to include major joint projects in sectors such as transport, energy, industry, and agriculture.
Western governments have raised concerns regarding Iran’s alleged supply of drones and missiles to Russia, particularly in the context of the Ukraine conflict.
Tehran has consistently denied these accusations, asserting its independence in foreign policy and military affairs.
Pezeshkian is also scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Russia next month for the BRICS summit.
