ISLAMABAD: Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has revealed that she declined an opportunity to star alongside Deepika Padukone in the Bollywood film ‘Love Aaj Kal’.

In an interview, Saba Qamar expressed regret over her decision to turn down the film offer with Padukone.

Saba Qamar, renowned for her acclaimed performance in ‘Hindi Medium’ alongside Irrfan Khan, said that she had received multiple offers from Bollywood before making her mark in the industry. Among these offers were roles in prominent films such as ‘Delhi 6’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’, and ‘Cocktail’.

“I even auditioned for ‘Delhi 6’, but my mother did not approve, so I turned it down,” Saba Qamar explained.

Regarding ‘Love Aaj Kal’, Saba Qamar admitted that she declined the role primarily because she believed that with Deepika Padukone in the lead, her own role might not receive substantial attention.

“When the film was eventually released, I watched it with my friends and realized I had made a significant mistake by turning down the offer,” she confessed.

‘Love Aaj Kal’, a romantic drama, featured Deepika Padukone in a prominent role alongside Saif Ali Khan and was well-received by audiences and critics alike upon its release.

Saba Qamar gained widespread recognition for her portrayal as Irrfan Khan’s wife in ‘Hindi Medium’, a role that garnered praise for her nuanced performance and contributed to the film’s success both in India and internationally.
