DUBAI: Pakistan cricket stars Saim Ayub, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf have been included in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s One Day International (ODI) Team of the Year for 2024.
The global cricketing body announced the names of the Pakistani players along with other team players on Friday.
“Pakistan youngster Saim Ayub follows his nomination for the ICC Emerging Men’s Player of the Year with an opening spot in the ODI XI. The 22-year-old amassed 515 runs in his nine outings, notably striking centuries against Zimbabwe, and two against South Africa,” said a statement issued by the ICC.
The global cricketing body said the pace of the tram comes in the form of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf, who took 15 and 13 wickets respectively during the year and starred as Pakistan recorded landmark wins against Australia and South Africa at the latter end of the year.
Earlier this month, Ayub was ruled out of the cricket world for six weeks after the youngster fractured his ankle. However, he will not need surgery and will instead undergo rehab in London, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed last week.
