Samina Alvi for Collective Efforts to Help Underprivileged

LAHORE: First Lady Samina Alvi, the wife of President Dr. Arif Alvi, said Sunday that it was a collective responsibility to make welfare-oriented efforts for underprivileged and poor segments of society.

 

Addressing the annual event of Soliton Group here in Lahore, the first lady said that the approach of just depending on the government should be changed.

 

She said that, no doubt, a lot of welfare activities were ongoing on a voluntary basis in the country to support deserving people. She said that work should be done for women’s empowerment. 

 

Samina Alvi also stressed the need to impart skill education. She further stressed promoting the concept of inclusion for differently-abled persons in society as this would yield positive consequences in society.

 

Efforts for breast cancer

 

The first lady said that efforts were also being carried out to create maximum awareness of breast cancer disease and its early diagnosis.

 

She said that there is a recovery rate of 98 to 99% if breast cancer is diagnosed at an early stage. She commended the Soliton Group for its initiatives aimed at the welfare of deserving people.
