Sarfaraz Ahmed Named Among Four ICC Champions Trophy Ambassadors

Pakistan’s 2017 winning captain joins Shikhar Dhawan, Tim Southee and Shane Watson

ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named Pakistan’s former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as one of the ambassadors for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, alongside cricketing greats Shane Watson (Australia), Shikhar Dhawan (India), and Tim Southee (New Zealand).

Among this all-star ensemble are Australia’s two-time champion Shane Watson, Shikhar Dhawan, who played a pivotal role in India’s victorious 2013 campaign, and New Zealand’s renowned fast bowler, Tim Southee.

These cricketing stalwarts, each boasting a treasure trove of Champions Trophy experience, will engage with fans in the coming weeks through insightful guest columns and live match experiences, offering a glimpse into what promises to be an exhilarating showdown as the world’s top eight teams vie for those coveted white jackets.

Sarfaraz Ahmed reminisced, “I’ll always cherish the moment I wore the white jackets and hoisted the trophy as Pakistan’s captain in 2017. The support from our nation during that triumph is something I hold dear. I’m thrilled to see the Champions Trophy return to the cricket calendar and for my country to host such a prestigious event. Shikhar Dhawan added, “Being part of a Champions Trophy is truly special, and I’m honored to serve as an Ambassador for the upcoming edition. Tim Southee expressed his excitement: “I’m delighted to be an Ambassador for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. Champions Trophy 2025 is set to kick off on February 19, with defending champions and hosts Pakistan facing off against New Zealand in the tournament opener. Over the course of 19 days, eight teams will contest a total of 15 matches, promising an unmissable celebration of cricket.
