Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s aid agency has distributed 1,450 food baskets in Pakistan’s Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

The aid was distributed in the districts of Dadu and Sanghar in Sindh province and the Torghar district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.

This initiative is one of a series of humanitarian and relief projects launched by Saudi Arabia through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) to end the suffering of those in need and those affected worldwide.

Last month Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had agreed to bring about a qualitative change in their economic, trade, and investment relationship as Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz during a meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, vowed to enhance meaningful cooperation between the two countries.

In December a Saudi delegation of the Shura Council led by the Chairman of the Council Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh visited Pakistan and held useful meetings with Pakistani leadership.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif while talking to the Saudi delegation said that his country is active in expanding economic and financial cooperation with Saudi Arabia as the two countries have recently signed agreements worth $ 2.2 billion.

The longstanding relationship between the two countries is further strengthened by the presence of over 2.6 million Pakistanis working in Saudi Arabia who serve as the largest source of remittances to Pakistan, sending billions of dollars back home each year.
