RIYADH: Saudi Arabia and the United States (US) have expressed grave concern over the serious violations of the ceasefire in Sudan and the Jeddah Declaration by both the army and the Rapid Support Forces.
The violations have resulted in harm to civilians and the Sudanese people, while also hindering the restoration of basic services and the delivery of humanitarian aid.
In a joint statement, the two countries emphasized the importance of the ceasefire and its role in bringing stability to Sudan. They urged both parties involved in the conflict to fully commit to the ceasefire and support humanitarian efforts aimed at addressing the urgent needs of the Sudanese people.

The statement further stated that if it becomes evident that the parties are genuinely committed to complying with the ceasefire, the facilitators are prepared to resume the suspended discussions in order to find a negotiated solution to the conflict.
Meanwhile, the White House announced on Thursday that it will impose sanctions on key defense companies and individuals who are involved in perpetuating violence in Sudan. This decision comes as a response to the failure of the warring sides to abide by the ceasefire agreement.
The international community is closely monitoring the situation in Sudan, urging all parties to prioritize the well-being of the Sudanese people and work towards a lasting peace. The violations of the ceasefire are seen as a setback in the efforts to bring stability and relief to the country.
