Saudi Arabia Arrests 15,245 for Residency and Border Violations

RIYADH: Saudi authorities have detained a total of 15,245 individuals within one week for violating regulations related to residency, work, and border security.

Saudi authorities say that from August 10 and 16, 8,539 individuals were apprehended for residency laws violations. An additional 4,253 individuals were held due to their illegal attempts to cross the border, while 2,453 were taken into custody for labor- laws related violations.

Saudi Arabia Detains 829 for Unauthorized Entry

The report further said that out of 829 individuals, captured while attempting unauthorized entry into the Kingdom, 53 percent were Yemeni nationals, 44 percent were Ethiopian, and 3 percent hailed from other countries.

Furthermore, 60 individuals were intercepted during their efforts to cross into neighboring nations, with an additional three held for their involvement in aiding and harboring offenders.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior has sternly cautioned that any individual found assisting in facilitating illegal entry into the Kingdom, whether by providing transportation or shelter, may face severe consequences. These consequences could include imprisonment for up to 15 years, fines of up to SR1 million ($260,000), or even the confiscation of vehicles and property.
