RIYADH: Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah has received a phone call from Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira during which they discussed bilateral ties.
During the call they reviewed bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday.
It is pertinent to mention that a memorandum of understanding to establish the Saudi-Brazilian Coordination Council was signed by the foreign ministers of both countries in Rio de Janeiro in November last year.
The agreement was signed during a meeting between Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
It is a “continuation of what was agreed upon between the leaderships of the two countries during the visit of the President of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to the Kingdom on November 30, 2023,” SPA said.
The Kingdom’s foreign minister visited Brazil to attend the G20 Summit.
Deputy speaker of Saudi Arabia’s Shoura Council, Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Sulami also attended 10th Summit of G20 Parliamentary Speakers held in Brasilia, Brazil from November 6 to 8.
In November last year Saudi Deputy Minister of Culture for International Cultural Relations Eng. Fahd Al-Kanaan met with Brazil’s Minister of Culture Margareth Menezes, on the side-lines of the 5th G20 Culture Ministers’ Meeting.
He expressed Saudi Arabia’s support for Brazil’s cultural priorities, and praised Brazilian artists’ contributions to Saudi cultural events, highlighting the strong cultural ties between the two countries.
