“This attack resulted in the death and injury of several people, violating international and humanitarian laws,” it said.
“The Kingdom reiterated its rejection of these violations and emphasised the critical need to protect health and humanitarian workers,” said the foreign ministry statement.
It urged self-restraint and the avoidance of targeting civilians, calling for adherence to the commitments made in the Jeddah Declaration of Commitment to Protect the Civilians of Sudan, issued on May 11, 2023. Saudi Arabia also extended its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
So far no group has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.
The war in Sudan has killed tens of thousands, uprooted over 12 million and pushed the country to the brink of famine, creating what the United Nations describes as one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
