RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the ongoing genocidal massacres against the Palestinian people by the Israeli military, including the recent targeting of the camps of displaced persons in Gaza’s Khan Younis, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reiterated its call for a permanent and immediate ceasefire, as well as for the protection of civilians isolated throughout the occupied Palestinian territories.

It stressed the need to activate accountability mechanisms at the international level against ongoing Israeli violations of global humanitarian law and legitimate international resolutions.

The SPA also reported that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres reiterated calls for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on humanitarian grounds and an end to the ongoing war since October 7th.

The UN spokesman said the Secretary-General was “shocked and saddened by the loss of lives following the Israeli airstrikes that struck the Mawasi Khan Younis area, south of Gaza, which killed 90 people and injured 300.

Antonio Guterres emphasized the need to abide by international humanitarian law, including the principles of proportionality, distinction, and precautionary measures during attacks.
