MAKKAH: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Health, Fahad Al-Jalajel, has inspected several healthcare facilities in Makkah to ensure the provision of high-quality medical services for Umrah pilgrims during the holy month of Ramadan.

Al-Jalajel visited Ajyad Emergency Hospital, which specialises in emergency and intensive care, Jiwar Medical Services Center, and the Al-Haram Emergency Centers.

He inspected all services for the quick handling of urgent cases, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.

Al-Jalajel added that the top priority of his ministry was to ensure high-quality healthcare for Umrah pilgrims.

He elaborated on the ministry’s continued efforts to ensure the readiness of medical facilities and the integration of healthcare services during the Ramadan and Hajj seasons.

The initiative aligns with the objectives of Vision 2030, which aims to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare services, underscoring the leadership’s commitment to advancing this sector, according to the SPA.

In addition, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority has established two helipads within the grounds of Makkah’s Grand Mosque to facilitate emergency medical evacuations.

The goal is to enhance healthcare services for Umrah pilgrims and to prepare for the upcoming Hajj season.

The helipads will enable the prompt transport of critical patients to hospitals in Makkah and Jeddah, the SPA reported.

The emergency hospital at the Grand Mosque is fully equipped with intensive care units, medical laboratories, radiology services, an in-house pharmacy, and isolation units for infectious diseases.

Al-Jalajel had earlier conducted field visits to several healthcare facilities in Makkah, where he reviewed plans to expand capacity during the Umrah season.

He also evaluated the readiness of emergency teams and the coordination of services offered to pilgrims.
