RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed great concern over the developments of the military escalation in Yemen after the Israeli attacks in the Al Hudaydah governorate on Saturday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.

The Saudi foreign ministry said the recent developments in Yemen aggravate the current tension in the region and halted the ongoing efforts to end the war on Gaza.

The ministry calls on all parties to show maximum restraint and to distance the region and its people from the dangers of war. It also calls on the global community and active influential parties to fulfill their responsibilities to end regional conflicts, SPA reported.

The ministry in the statement affirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued efforts to end the war on Gaza and its continuous support for peace efforts in Yemen to spare its people from more suffering and achieve peace, and security in the region.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has also expressed his concern over Israel’s airstrikes on Al Hudaydah in Yemen, urging all parties to avoid attacks that could harm civilians and damage infrastructure.

The strikes, a retaliation for a Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv, left several dead and over 80 injured. The Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV in its broadcast stated that Israeli planes targeted a power plant and a fuel storage facility.
