Saudi Arabia Extends Condolences to South Africa Over Fire Incident

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has expressed its deepest condolences to the South African government following a tragic fire in a multi-storey building in Johannesburg’s city center that claimed the lives of 74 people and left 50 others injured.

In an official statement posted on its official X, previously known as Twitter, account, Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry expressed its solidarity with the people and government of South Africa during this challenging period.

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia extends its sincere condolences to the government and people of South Africa for the victims of the building fire in Johannesburg city,” read the statement.

“The ministry underscores the unwavering support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the South African government and its people in the face of this terrible catastrophe.”

It is worth to note that a fire broke out in a five-story building in Johannesburg on Thursday, which was being used as shelter by homeless individuals, resulting in the tragic loss of 74 lives, including 12 children. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of this devastating fire.
