Saudi Crown Prince receives German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Riyadh

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman received German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Riyadh on Monday and discussed ways to boost bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed aspects of bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Germany and discussed ways to enhance ties, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The two leaders also discussed regional and international developments and the efforts made towards them.

The meeting was attended by senior Saudi officials, including Riyadh Region Governor Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz; Minister of State and Cabinet Member Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz; Minister of Sport Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal and Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrived in Riyadh on Sunday.  Upon his arrival at King Khalid International Airport, the German President was received by the Governor of Riyadh Region, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz.

Meanwhile, Saudi Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan, chaired the Saudi-German Roundtable meeting, which aimed to enhance bilateral relations and explore avenues for mutual cooperation, with participation from some of the largest private sector companies from both nations, the SPA reported.

During the meeting, Al-Jadaan emphasised that Germany is a key economic partner for Saudi Arabia, with the two countries bolstering economic cooperation that has flourished over the years. The minister also showcased key aspects of Vision 2030 and its achievements, including legislation that has empowered the private sector to actively participate in the developmental process, yielding benefits for all stakeholders.

The meeting addressed significant economic developments in both Saudi Arabia and Germany. Additionally, it explored opportunities for collaboration between private sectors in various fields, including renewable energy, petrochemicals, mining, healthcare, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, transportation, logistics, financial services, and particularly tourism.

On Monday Saudi Arabia and Germany also signed an MoU aimed at producing and exporting green hydrogen and ammonia from Saudi Arabia to Europe.

The MoU was signed following a meeting between Saudi Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, and German Minister of Finance, Jörg Kukies.
