RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has reinforced its stance against impersonating security officials by imposing severe penalties for individuals found guilty of this offense. According to an announcement by the Public Prosecution, individuals caught impersonating security officials can face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison or a hefty fine of SR150,000, or both.

The Public Prosecution, in a statement shared on its official platform, highlighted that the strict penalty applies to cases where the crime of impersonation is linked to an act of terror or exploitation. The statement emphasized that individuals impersonating public authorities, especially those engaged in security or military roles, will face stringent legal consequences.

Moreover, the same penalties will be applied if the impersonated person holds a position as a police officer, intelligence officer, member of the armed forces, or a similar authority figure.

The introduction of these robust penalties is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to enhance the security and safety of its citizens and residents. By implementing strict measures against impersonation, the country aims to safeguard the integrity of its security forces and maintain public trust in law enforcement agencies.
