Saudi Arabia Launches Training Programmes to Boost IMCTC Member States’ Counter-Terrorism Efforts

RIYADH: Training programmes have been launched for the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) member states to enhance cooperation to combat terrorism.

The government of Saudi Arabia launched 46 training programmes, at the headquarters of the IMCTC for nominees from the coalition member states, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.

The programmes focus on developing competencies in intellectual, media, financial, and military fields, to reinforce international efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms.

IMCTC Secretary General Major General Pilot Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi while announcing the initiative said that it would support regional and international cooperation to combat terrorism.

Al-Moghedi said that the training programs will boost the capabilities of member states and equip them with the knowledge and expertise needed to address challenges posed by terrorism, thus contributing to regional and global stability and security.

The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) established in 2015 is an intergovernmental counter-terrorist military alliance between 42-member states of the Muslim world.  Saudi Arabia took the initiative to establish the IMCTC.

Pakistan’s former Chief of the Army Staff General (Retd) Raheel Sharif is the Military Commander of the IMCTC since May 2017.

The coalition aims to build a better tomorrow for generations to come, rooted in a consistent and global message that reaffirms the Islamic principles of tolerance and compassion and counters the narrative of violent extremist ideology by presenting the true nature of Islam and supporting ideological, psychological, and social reforms.
