RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Friday expressed the Kingdom’s regret over the failure of the UN Security Council to adopt a draft resolution granting full UN membership of the State of Palestine.

The MoFA in a press release said that obstructing the acceptance of full membership of the State of Palestine in the UN adds to perpetuating the stubbornness of the Israeli occupation forces and their continued violations, with impunity, of international law, and does nothing to achieve the desired peace.

The MoFA renewed Saudi Arabia’s demand that the global community assume its responsibility to stop the Israeli attacks on civilian population in Gaza Strip, and support the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to establish their state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the relevant international resolutions and Arab Peace Initiative.
