RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has condemned the resumption of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, including attacks on civilian-populated areas, as Israeli strikes killed more than 413 people in Gaza after the collapse of the fragile ceasefire.
The Saudi foreign ministry in a statement on Tuesday said the recent attack shows Israel’s blatant disregard for international humanitarian law.
“The Kingdom stresses the importance of an immediate cessation of Israeli killing, violence, and destruction, as well as the protection of Palestinian civilians from the unjust Israeli war machine,” it said.
The Kingdom reaffirmed the need for the global community to assume its responsibilities by intervening immediately to put an end to these crimes and to end the severe humanitarian suffering endured by the Palestinian people.
Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip killed at least 413 people on Tuesday, effectively ending a fragile ceasefire that had been in place since January.
According to Gaza’s health ministry, the casualty toll is expected to rise as rescue operations continue.
“So far, 413 martyrs have arrived in hospitals in the Gaza Strip,” the ministry said in a statement. “A number of victims are still under the rubble, and work is underway to recover them.”
The strikes, the most intense since the truce began on 19 January, targeted areas across northern, central, and southern Gaza, including Gaza City, Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis, and Rafah.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement expressing Cairo’s condemnation of the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza.
The statement said that this constitutes a flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement and a dangerous escalation that threatens to have dire consequences for the stability of the region.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqae has expressed the country’s condemnation of renewed Israeli attacks on Gaza.
In a statement on Tuesday, Baqae described the resumption of deadly aggression in Gaza as a “continuation of genocide and ethnic cleansing” in the occupied Palestinian territory.
He said the attacks, which have so far claimed the lives of at least 404 Palestinians, are being carried out with a “green light” from the United States.
Qatar, also condemned Israel’s resumption of military operations against the Gaza Strip, saying the renewed strikes had resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children.
In a statement, the Qatari Foreign Ministry described the action as a challenge to international efforts to secure a ceasefire and warned that further escalation could destabilize the region and undermine security.
The ministry called for an immediate return to dialogue to implement the ceasefire and end the conflict while highlighting the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
