Saudi Arabia’s Director of Military Operations of Joint Forces Inaugurates Education Project in Socotra Island

SOCOTRA: Saudi Arabia’s The Director of Civil-Military Operations of the Joint Forces, Major General Abdullah bin Dakhil Al-Hababi, has inaugurated a project to provide education for females who have dropped out of school in Socotra Island, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday.

According to the SPA, the project was financed by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and implemented by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in collaboration with the Al-Khair Coalition for Humanitarian Relief.

During the inauguration, the Commander of the Support Force on Socotra Island, Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Mutairi, welcomed Maj. Gen. Al-Hababi in the governorate.

The Undersecretary of Socotra Governorate, Brigadier General Saleh Al-Socatri, lauded the efforts of Saudi Arabia represented by KSrelief for its continuous support of the education sector in Yemen. The project aims to provide better education opportunities for Yemeni girls.

Under the project, KSrelief will provide office furniture and equipment to 21 schools and provide 64 alternative classrooms for girls’ education. School bags will also be distributed to 19,000 female students, and training programs will be implemented for 350 teachers.

Professional and vocational support will be given to heads of families of orphan girls, and awareness-raising campaigns will be run to encourage girls’ enrollment in education.

The Director of the Emergency Relief Department at KSrelief, Fahad Al-Osaimi, said that the center would continue implementing its plans on the island, especially in education, to provide alternative classes for females.
