RIYADH: Saudi Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has received a telephone call from British Secretary of State for Defense Grant Shapps, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

According to the SPA, the two sides reviewed the strategic ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the United Kingdom (UK) and discussed bilateral cooperation in the defense sector. The SPA maintained that the two sides also addressed the current military escalation in Gaza and its surroundings. The SPA reported that in this context, the Saudi Defense Minister emphasized the imperative need to persevere in de-escalating the situation in Gaza, stopping military operations to protect the lives of innocent people, and respect and adhere to global humanitarian law.

He highlighted that this is vital for restoring stability and security for the brotherly Palestinian people, the SPA stated.
