RIYADH: The Saudi Cabinet on Tuesday, commended the outcomes of the 161st session of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and underscored the Kingdom’s dedication to advancing Gulf cooperation at all levels and to supporting initiatives taken to strengthen Gulf ties with other countries, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, chaired the Cabinet session in Riyadh.
The Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet about his recent meeting with the foreign minister of Russia with whom he discussed bilateral cooperation and ways to boost it, as well as current regional and international developments, with a focus on collaborative efforts to promote security and stability.
Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossary told the Saudi Press Agency after the Cabinet session that it reviewed the outcomes of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s participation in various meetings, where discussions stressed the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering joint international action aiming to achieve progress in various fields and to contribute to efforts that bring about global development and economic prosperity.
The Cabinet lauded the outcomes of the 161st session of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the meetings GCC held with the Russian Federation, India, and Brazil.
The Cabinet also reviewed the outcomes of the OPEC+ meeting, in which Saudi Arabia and seven other members agreed to extend voluntary production cuts by 2.2 million barrels per day until November 2024.
The Cabinet expressed appreciation for IMF’s Article IV Consultation report, in which the fund praised the Kingdom’s leading role in international cooperation and progress toward attaining Vision 2030 goals. IMF also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s efforts to diversify its economy, expand its economic base, and implement comprehensive structural reforms.
The Cabinet also acknowledged the success of the recent Fintech conference, held in Riyadh, and the promising developments shown on the occasion.
The Cabinet lauded Saudi Arabia’s successful bid to host the 6th UN World Data Forum in 2026, granted in recognition to the Kingdom’s achievements in the statistical sector and its track record in hosting successful international events.
The Cabinet reviewed ongoing Arab-Islamic efforts to support the establishment of a Palestinian state, restore the Palestinians’ legitimate rights, and halt Israeli occupation forces’ violations of international and humanitarian laws.
The Cabinet praised the efforts of the Aligned for Advancing Lifesaving and Peace in Sudan group to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people, expand the delivery of humanitarian aid, and work toward a ceasefire agreement.
The Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the fields of electricity, renewable energy and clean hydrogen between the governments of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
It also authorized the minister of interior, or a deputy, to discuss and sign with the Uzbek side a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of civil defense and civil protection.
It approved a memorandum of understanding on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua.
The Cabinet authorized the minister of investment, or a deputy, to discuss and sign with the Paraguayan side a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in promoting direct investment.
It approved a memorandum of understanding on preventing and combating corruption between the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Federal Commission of Integrity of the Republic of Iraq.
The Saudi Cabinet authorized the minister of education and Technical and Vocational Training Corporation board of directors chairman, or a deputy, to discuss and sign with the Tajik side a draft memorandum of understanding in the field of technical and vocational training between the corporation and the Committee on Primary and Secondary Vocational Education of the Republic of Tajikistan.
It also approved a model memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the non-profit sector between the National Center for Non-Profit Sector (NCNP) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its international counterparts. The Cabinet authorized the minister of human resources and social development and NCNP board of directors chairman, or a deputy, to discuss and sign with the center’s counterparts a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in light of the aforementioned model.
