Saudi Chefs Display Cooking Skills at Cultural Event

DAMMAM: Saudi chefs have been presenting their skills with a series of cooking demonstrations at a major cultural event in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

Food fans got the opportunity to watch famous regional cooks make traditional dishes and foods during several shows held at Dammam Corniche and Qatif Corniche as part of the 1st Writers and Readers Festival.

One of the participating chefs, Bandar Alshehri said that he is a fan of the kitchen, and always try to present delicious dishes to people in an interesting way. He had also participated in cooking shows at Qemam festival in Abha. He maintained that he is interested in Saudi cuisine, its transition from ancient to modern kitchens.

Chef Afnan Aljaadi also attended the 1st Writers and Readers Festival and said that she wants to share her knowledge with the audience and to get more exposure to authentic and cultural food to learn new ideas.

Aljaadi studied business administration and served as a human resources manager before pursuing her career as a chef. Aljaadi is the co-founder of cake shop Une Meringue in Jeddah.

Chefs Ghofran Alromaihy, Heba Rajab, and Hadeel Mohammed have also been attending the events held in Dammam Corniche, Qatif Corniche, Dhahran Expo, Alkhobar Corniche, and the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture.

The 1st edition of the Writers and Readers Festival was initiated by the Saudi Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission. The event will be concluded by March 11.
