Saudi Chief of General Staff Visits Türkiye: SPA

RIYADH: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) Chief of the General Staff Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili has visited Türkiye in response to an invitation from his Turkish counterpart, General Metin Gurak, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.

According to the SPA, at the start of his trip, Al-Ruwaili held a meeting with Gurak to discuss ties and explore means to enhance and develop military and defense cooperation. The SPA reported that Al-Ruwaili also met with Türkiye’s Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler and the two sides discussed strategic ties between the two nations and opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the military and defense sectors.

Additionally, the Chief of the General Staff visited the Turkish Special Forces Command and held a meeting with Commander of Turkish Special Forces Major General Omer Ertugrul Erbakan, the SPA added. Al-Ruwaili was briefed on the forces’ supplies and equipment during the trip.

Chief of the General Staff Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili met with President of the Defense Industry Agency (SSB) Prof. Haluk Görgün, to discuss means to enhance cooperation in military industries and develop scientific research, the SPA maintained. During the meeting, Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili was briefed on firms specialized in the military and defense fields in Türkiye.
