RIYADH: Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has received a phone call from Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and discussed ways to further develop bilateral ties, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

During the conversation, they reviewed the strong ties between Saudi Arabia and Brazil and emphasised their commitment to further developing cooperation across various fields.

The discussion also covered a variety of topics of mutual interest.

It may be recalled that last week Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah held a phone conversation with Brazilian counterpart Mauro Vieira during which they discussed bilateral ties.

Ties between Saudi Arabia and Brazil have seen many developments in recent months. The two countries have long been economic partners, but are pushing to deepen trade and investment.

A memorandum of understanding to establish the Saudi-Brazilian Coordination Council was signed by the foreign ministers of both countries in Rio de Janeiro in November last year.

The agreement was signed during a meeting between Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

Deputy speaker of Saudi Arabia’s Shura Council, Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Sulami also attended 10th Summit of G20 Parliamentary Speakers held in Brasilia, Brazil from November 6 to 8.

In November last year Saudi Deputy Minister of Culture for International Cultural Relations Eng. Fahd Al-Kanaan met with Brazil’s Minister of Culture Margareth Menezes, on the sidelines of the 5th G20 Culture Ministers’ Meeting.

He expressed Saudi Arabia’s support for Brazil’s cultural priorities, and praised Brazilian artists’ contributions to Saudi cultural events, highlighting the strong cultural ties between the two countries.
