Saudi Crown Prince, Japanese Prime Minister Hold Video Meeting

JEDDAH: Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has held a video teleconference meeting on Tuesday with Prime Minister of Japan Kishida Fumio, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

During the meeting Prime Minister Kishida conveyed his sincere wishes for the speedy recovery of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and said that he looks forward to visit of the Crown Prince to Japan.

The Crown Prince thanked the prime minister for his sincere wishes and inviting him again to visit Japan.

The two sides discussed ties between the two countries and ways to enhance them. They also reviewed regional and global developments and the efforts exerted in this regard, in addition to issues of mutual interest.

They also discussed the efforts to stop Israeli attacks, support efforts aimed at international recognition of the independent Palestinian state, deliver humanitarian aid, and support the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.

The prime minister noted the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations, stressing that cooperation with Saudi Arabia contributes to the stability of the region.

He also referred to the cultural cooperation between the two countries for organizing the Expo in both states.

The two leaders agreed to establish a Strategic Partnership Council (SPC).

Kishida thanks Saudi Arabia for stable crude oil supply to Japan

Prime Minister Kishida thanked Saudi Arabia for the stable supply of crude oil to Japan over the years and stated that he expects the kingdom to continue to play a leading role in stabilizing the international oil market and supporting the global supply chain for clean energy.

The Crown Prince said that Saudi Arabia remains committed to the stable supply of crude oil to Japan and that it would like to cooperate with Japan in other areas including clean energy.

Prime Minister Kishida expressed hope for direct investment from Saudi Arabia into Japan in a wide range of fields, as well as cooperation in the fields of power transmission, construction, utilization of hydrogen, digital, ICT, health, space, food, agriculture, medicine and other sectors, which will lead to creating business opportunities.

The talks also covered bilateral investment and economic cooperation in the energy sector, including joint investments. They also reviewed climate initiatives, environmental protection, environmental sustainability, and mitigation of climate change effects.

The Crown Prince lauded the trade exchange and its growth in recent years between Japan and Saudi Arabia and hoped to work with Japanese companies in several promising fields and big projects.

Prime Minister Kishida stated that he is happy to hand over the torch of the Expo to Saudi Arabia in 2030 from Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
