Saudi Crown Prince to Address Global Leaders in France

The Crown Prince is scheduled to deliver a speech at the main session of the Paris Summit on “A New Way: Partnerships for Green Growth.”

French Minister for Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna will be the moderator of the main session. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will also attend the banquet dinner that French President Macron will host today in honor of the leaders attending the summit.

According to Saudi Gazette, over 100 heads of state and government will attend the summit in Paris. Similarly, reports said that more than 300 top-ranking officials representing different nations, organizations, and civil society will participate in the event.

French President Emmanuel Macron will host the summit on Thursday and Friday to pin down a strategy for easing the loan burdens of low-income nations while issuing additional funds for climate financing. The summit is likely to pledge the allocation of $100 billion to help developing nations, which are confronting financial issues that have led to their failure to pay their foreign debts.

President Macron will inaugurate the summit in Paris. The UN chief Antonio Guterres, Niger President Mohamed Bazoum, and Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Motley will also address the opening session of the summit.

The participation of the Crown Prince in the Summit is considered very significant on the part of Riyadh in shaping the features of the aspired global financial system by virtue of its membership in the G20 and its key role in the oil industry.

The summit also aims to tackle the issues of climate change, biodiversity protection, and the struggle against inequality to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The summit also aims to constitute a new system that meets the common goals of humanity.

Observers and analysts said that the participation of the Saudi Crown Prince in the summit is solid evidence of the Kingdom’s seriousness in reforming the international financial system. Both developing and developed nations are looking forward to the Saudi experience in investing in green technology and steps to curb the challenge of climate change.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is currently on an official tour to France, held wide-ranging discussions with Macron on Friday. The Crown Prince also attended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) official reception for Riyadh’s bid to host World Expo 2030 on Monday.
