MAKKAH, Saudia Arabia: The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) has launched the Smart Makkah Operations Center (Smart Moc) to enhance the safety and comfort of Hajj pilgrims, facilitating their movement and improving the services provided to them, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The operations center utilizes cutting-edge technologies based on AI techniques to achieve these goals, SPA reported.

A team of experts specializing in various fields such as programming, data, and AI work at Smart Moc around the clock. They monitor the operational processes of the platforms and provide precise analyses of their progress. This initiative aligns with SDAIA’s commitment to employing the latest technologies and AI to support pilgrims and visitors to the Grand Mosque.

One of the center’s significant achievements is the “Basier” platform. This platform is the first real-time computer vision system in Saudi Arabia and one of the largest crowd management systems in the Middle East. Basier is used to manage crowds within the Grand Mosque, regulate their movements, and facilitate the flow of vehicles.

The implementation of Smart Moc and the Basier platform demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s dedication to leveraging advanced technology and AI to ensure a safe and efficient pilgrimage experience.
