RIYADH: The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has enhanced Yemen’s healthcare system, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.

The Kingdom has an objective to achieve sustainable healthcare sector development by implementing numerous projects and initiatives in Yemen.

The projects include the construction and equipping of hospitals and medical centers, as well as the training of healthcare staff. The King Salman Medical and Educational City in Al-Mahrah Governorate is an excellent example, offering a 110-bed hospital, operating rooms and outpatient clinics within a one million square meter complex.

The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden provided over 1.3 million medical consultations, 8,700 surgeries, and 440 heart operations from January 2023 to June 2024.

To address specific needs, programs such as the Taiz Cancer Treatment Center, the Hadramout University Hospital and Cancer Treatment Center, and the Aden Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children have been founded. Additionally, the Al-Mahra Kidney Dialysis Center and the Operations and Intensive Care Center have been implemented to improve care for kidney disease patients.

The initiative has also upgraded current facilities, including Marib General Authority Hospital, the Aden General Hospital and the 26th of September Hospital in Marib.

These programs have collectively helped 4,486,847 individuals and supported 26 medical facilities across nine governorates of Yemen showing the Kingdom’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of the people of Yemen.
