Saudi FM Meets Russian, Indian Counterparts in Cape Town

CAPE TOWN: Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Thursday on the sidelines of the Friends of BRICS Group’s Ministerial Meeting in Cape Town, South Africa.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed aspects of cooperation and friendship between the two nations and ways to expand and develop them in all sectors. They also discussed strengthening bilateral and multilateral work in many areas of common interest.

Prince Faisal reiterated Saudi Arabia’s position in support of all regional and global efforts to find a political solution to the Russia-Ukrainian war. They also discussed important issues raised in the Ministerial Meeting.

Prince Faisal also held a meeting with India’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

During the meeting, they reviewed historical and solid ties between the two friendly nations and peoples as well as ways to boost and develop them in different areas. They also discussed expanding bilateral and multilateral coordination on multiple regional and international problems of common interest.

They stressed the necessity of intensifying joint efforts in bringing international peace and security, widening the contribution to achieving sustainable development goals and discussing topics in the agenda of the BRICS conference.
